1/13/2024 0 Comments Istream installer error![]() On occasion I get the message "the operation could not be completed because the server provided invalid data". I have tried using every possible permutation to my dynamic DNS and IP address within the iStream applet and can not get beyond a white screen that says "connecting to server.". I updated my WHS to version 2.5 and downloded the iStream application from itunes to my iPhone. Like I said I love the concept of this app, but I am so frustrated that I can't get it to work. I'd love to know if anyone else is experiencing similar problems to me and also if anyone has any suggestions for what I might do to correct the problem. My iPhone is an iPhone 3G running version 2.2.1 of the iPhone OS. ![]() Browser-based remote access generally works fine. My network hub in an Apple Airport Extreme which has been manually configured to have ports 80, 443, 4125 open for the server. I have remote access enabled and can successfully play the songs via browser-based remote streaming. I am running and HP MediaSmart 485 with the 2.5 software release. In any event, the problem seems to be based on specific content, but as I said earlier, I can see no pattern. For songs that do not stream successfully no such activity is seen but I'm not really sure what that tells me since it may either be that the request is getting screwed up in the iStream app or that it is being ignored on the server. I monitored network activity on the MediaSmart and see a clear pattern of output packets for songs that do stream successfully. ![]() From iTunes, much of that music is iTunes+ tracks which should be DRM-free. Most of my music are iTunes purchases and ripped CDs. For example, from a ripped CD some of the songs play and others do not. But I can find no rhyme or reason to those that will and will not play. Those that do not also do not play consistently. So far, only about 10% of the songs I've tried to play from my library have successfully streamed and played. I LOVE the concept but it is working very erratically for me. I've been playing with HP's new iStream app for the iPhone.
